The service of connection between the parking lot of Posto di Blocco and the marinas of Santa Maria al Bagno and Santa Caterina, which will be carried out this year by Sixma s.r.l. of Lecce, is back. Starting next Saturday, June 16, two shuttle buses of at least fifteen seats will run from the parking lot to the two marinas, along two separate routes, in the time slot between 20 and one. The first (of a total of 4 km) is Posto di Blocco, Strada Santa Caterina, Strada Santa Maria, Strada Torre Santa Caterina, Lungomare E. Filiberto, Via P. Micca, Strada Santa Caterina, Posto di Blocco and will have a frequency of ten minutes.
The second (7 km) is Posto di Blocco, Strada Santa Caterina, Strada Santa Maria, Strada Torre Santa Caterina, Lungomare E. Filiberto, Via G. Puccini, Via A. De Ferraris, Santa Maria street, Lissandri street, Erodoto street, Santa Maria street, Santa Caterina street, Posto di Blocco and will have a frequency of twenty minutes. The terminus (Posto di Blocco, Santa Caterina and Santa Maria) will be the obligatory stops, but there will be any intermediate stops on request.
This is a free service for users. You can then choose whether to pay for the stop with your car on the blue stripes in the two marinas or use one of the two car parks (Posto di Blocco and “Santa Maria Centrale” in Santa Maria al Bagno) and then move without stress and without cost on board the shuttles along the entire area served. Even those who arrive or reside in Santa Maria al Bagno can then head to Santa Caterina without taking their car and vice versa. In June the service will be carried out only Saturday 16, Sunday 17, Saturday 23, Sunday 24 and Saturday 30. In July and August it will be done every day, in September it will be done every day until Sunday 9, then in the days from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16.
“We have experienced the service successfully in recent years – said the Councillor for Mobility Ettore Tollemeto – and we always propose it with the aim of freeing the center of the two marinas from traffic and smog, for the benefit of residents and all those who attend them, while offering a convenient alternative as the shuttles. This service, like the installation of devices with bars at the ztl gates in the two marinas, as well as the new regulations for the ztl and pedestrian areas of the historic center, are all choices that direct the city towards a dimension tailored to pedestrians and less and less cars.
